Sad news, David Baker, seen here between SAM Speaks editor Roland Friestad and SAM webmaster Dave Harding, passed away early this morning after a long illness. David was the leading light in UK SAM. This picture was taken at the SAM 1066 European SAM Champs at Middle Wallop in August of 2007. David was a frequent visitor to the US SAM Champs and hosted many of our members to tours of the UK SAM scene. More |

The 2009 SAM Champs will be held on El Dorado Dry Lake south of Las Vegas, Nevada on October 4-9, 2009. Registration will take place on Sunday October 4 and the contest will be flown from Monday October 5 through Friday October 9. Mark your calendars! Mike Myers, Contest Manager, 2009 Champs |

Trevor Boundy from SAM 600 Australia is the new SAM webmaster Trevor who is also the webmaster for SAM 600 is the builder of FlyNet, one of our excellent web based resources for searching information about Old Timer models. Just type in a model designer's name or the model name, select the category of model and click. You will be rewarded with a 3-view of the model and a table of characteristics. Trevor and three of his Australian flying buddies flew with us at the 2007 Las Vegas Champs. They had some radio problems resulting in field repairs of significant magnitude. Here Trevor holds the model while the "100 knot racer tape" is applied to the broken fuselage. Resourceful these Aussies! Trevor is currently collecting and organizing the SAM site material and shortly will introduce us to his work. As with all such endeavors he needs your help with pictures, articles, contest schedules and results so please contact him. |
